Damage Detection

Catch Every Tear, Rip & Puncture, Automatically

Our AI segments damage at the pixel level: tears, punctures, crushed corners, and contamination. It quantifies severity by area, major axis, and minor axis. Each package gets a definitive PASS or FAIL in under 161ms.

Pixel-Level Segmentation
Blob detection isolates and measures each damage region: area, center coordinates, and major/minor axis lengths for full traceability.
Multiple Damage Classes
Train for tears, punctures, crushed edges, moisture damage, and contamination, all running simultaneously in a single recipe.
100% Alignment Confidence
Built-in alignment ensures consistent measurement across varying package positions, orientations, and conveyor speeds.

Gap Measurement

Precision Gap Measurement at Conveyor Speed

Detect and measure gaps between packages on conveyor belts in real time. Our system tracks multiple gap regions simultaneously, measuring each down to the pixel with blob-level statistics: area, major axis, minor axis, and center position.

Each gap is classified independently with per-blob statistics, so line automation can trigger divert arms, adjust conveyor speed, or flag spacing violations for upstream correction.

Flow Control

Real-Time Throughput Intelligence

Count every package. Measure every area. Track every flow rate. Our AI classifies each package by area (153,406+ pixels) and applies pass/fail logic in real time, giving you immediate visibility into line throughput and quality yield.

Packages Per Hour / Day / Week
Track throughput over any time horizon. Identify bottlenecks, peak hours, and declining trends before they impact SLAs.
Real-Time Flow Rate
5-minute interval monitoring with live flow rate (228 pkg/hr), system status, and belt uptime, all streamed to your custom dashboard.
No-Code Automation
Trigger divert arms, alert operators, and feed your warehouse and factory systems, all without writing code.

Paper packaging · Seal inspection

Grade every heat seal on every package, without destroying it

Seal strength is usually verified destructively: cut strips, pull them on a tensile tester, scrap the package. Accurate, but slow, sampled, and blind between samples. The OV20i grades the visual seal condition that predicts bond failure, on the cross seal and long seal of every package at line speed, so drift in jaw temperature, pressure, or web handling is caught at the first bag, not at the next pull test.

Applications

What You Can Inspect Today

One camera, multiple recipes. Deploy an OV20i or OV80i once and run any combination of these inspections, switching between recipes in seconds.

Package Damage Detection

Identify tears, rips, punctures, and crushed corners on parcels in transit. Pixel-level segmentation quantifies damage area for automated divert decisions.

Conveyor Gap Measurement

Track spacing between packages on high-speed belts. Multi-region measurement with per-blob statistics enables downstream jams to be prevented before they happen.

Flow Control Analytics

Count packages, measure flow rates, and log throughput over time (per hour, per day, per week) with live dashboards accessible from any browser.

Shipping Label Verification

Verify label presence, position, readability, and barcode quality. Prevent mislabeled packages from entering sortation and reaching the wrong destination.

Carton Seal Integrity

Detect open flaps, incomplete tape seals, and compromised closures that could lead to product loss or contamination during shipment.

Fill Level & Kit Verification

Confirm correct quantities and component placement inside open-top boxes. Catch missing items before the carton is sealed and shipped.

Spotlight · Fill Level & Kit Verification

Kit checks on parts most vision systems can’t see

Transparent parts are among the hardest things to inspect. Classical vision tools struggle with simple presence checks on clear items even under creative lighting, and packed boxes make it harder: contents shift, and a translucent air cushion can squeeze in anywhere between them.

Another packaging use case we worked on was exactly this: a box packed with four clear glasses and a translucent air cushion, verified before sealing. We used the OV20i’s photometric imaging mode to get stable images of every item as ambient light changed, and grouped regions of interest so the glasses and cushion could sit in slightly different positions and still be checked, with a confident judgment whenever any of them was missing.

Photometric imaging
Stable images of clear and translucent parts, even as overhead lights switch on and off.
Grouped ROIs
One label set trains every region at once, so far fewer images produce more training data.
Trained for variation
Different positions, different lighting, partial packs. The model is trained to expect all of it.

From mounting to validated inspection in days, not months. No labelled datasets, no server room, no per-inspection licensing.

Personal care · Carton line

Open-flap detection at 200 cartons a minute

A global personal care brand was running a high-speed carton line with no vision system at all, and no tolerance for an open flap reaching final pack. We mounted an OV20i and triggered it off the line sensor already there, then trained a classification model on-site from real production samples. By the end of the first day it was capturing every carton without missing a part.

Platform

The camera is half the answer. The software comes with it.

Point solutions inspect and forget. Every OV20i and OV80i ships with the same software stack: searchable image history, GenAI training data, and no-code integration, included with the platform rather than sold as add-on modules.

Haystack · On-camera image search

Every package, searchable after the fact

Each camera stores 100K+ captures on device, and Haystack searches them: filter by date, inspection region, and confidence, cluster similar failures, and pull the exact frames a question is about. When a damage claim or a carrier dispute comes back weeks later, the photographic record of that shipment is a query away, not a shrug.

OV Auto-Defect Creator Studio

Train for damage you haven’t seen yet

Rare failure modes are rare on purpose, which makes them slow to collect and easy to miss. The Defect Creator generates synthetic defects on your real captures, so tears, burns, contaminants, and seal failures are in the training set before the first one ever reaches the line. The seal inspection case study above was trained exactly this way.

OV Auto-Integration Builder

Integrations written in plain English

Wiring inspection results into the rest of the line usually means integration code. Overview ships a tool that writes it for you: describe what should happen, like “if a package fails, divert it and alert the operator”, and it builds and tests the integration against real outputs from your camera. Divert arms, alerts, warehouse systems, no programming.
