Overview Launches OV10i and OV80i Smart Cameras, Completing the AI Vision Lineup

Two new smart cameras join the OV20i, giving manufacturers a complete tiered platform that scales from single-point assembly verification to high-resolution multi-camera inspection of micro-defects.

San Francisco, CA, January 21, 2025. Overview today announced the OV10i and OV80i smart cameras, expanding what was a single-product line into a three-tier hardware platform. The OV10i is a compact entry-level AI vision sensor for high-volume pass/fail and assembly verification. The OV80i is a flagship multi-camera system with on-device GPU acceleration for the most demanding micro-defect, OCR, and large-area inspection tasks. Both run the same Overview software stack as the existing OV20i.

Until today, customers deploying Overview at scale standardized on the OV20i for nearly every use case. That worked for most factories, but left gaps at both ends of the spectrum. Quality teams needed a lower-cost option for simple sorting and presence checks on dozens of stations. Process engineers running NPI on next-generation electronics, semiconductors, and aerospace components needed more resolution, more compute, and multi-camera coordination than the OV20i was designed for. The OV10i and OV80i fill those gaps without forcing customers to retrain on a different platform.

One Platform, Three Tiers

Every Overview camera runs the same software, the same no-code training workflow, and the same fleet management plane. A quality engineer who has trained an OV20i model can deploy and manage an OV10i or OV80i without learning anything new. Models, datasets, and dashboards move between cameras as easily as files on a desktop. This was the constraint that drove the entire hardware roadmap: more capability, no platform fragmentation.

OV10i: Entry-Level AI Vision Sensor

The OV10i is built for high-volume sorting, assembly verification, and presence/absence checks. It uses a classifier-style AI model running on a 21 TOPS edge processor with a 1.6 MP sensor and integrated lighting in a compact, ruggedized housing. With a transparent one-time price point, the OV10i removes the budget objection that previously kept AI vision out of dozens of stations across a typical plant. Customers can now blanket entire lines with consistent inspection rather than spot-checking critical stations.

OV80i: Flagship High-Performance Vision System

The OV80i is the most capable system Overview has ever shipped. It pairs an 8.3 MP sensor with a 70 TOPS NVIDIA Orin processor and supports multi-camera deployments under a single inspection logic. The OV80i adds OCR, segmentation, and anomaly detection on top of the standard classifier workflow, making it the right tool for micro-cracks, laser weld inspection, conformal coating defects, semiconductor packaging, and aerospace surface inspection. For customers running NPI on next-generation products where defect modes are not yet fully understood, the OV80i is the workhorse.

OV20i Remains the Workhorse for Most Customers

The OV20i continues as the platform's flagship balance of price and capability. It supports classifier and segmentation models on a 21 TOPS Xavier NX processor with a 1.6 MP sensor, integrated optics, and Overview's full no-code workflow. Most customers will continue to deploy OV20i broadly across their lines, with OV10i complementing it for high-density sorting and OV80i reserved for the most challenging inspection tasks.

“Customers kept asking for two things: cheaper hardware to cover more stations, and bigger hardware to handle the inspection problems no traditional vision system could solve. We built both, but we built them on the same platform our customers already know. The cost to learn a new product is zero. That is the part most camera companies miss.”

Christopher Van Dyke, CEO, Overview
